As the longest running internship in the industry, the Gallagher Sales Internship Program began in 1965 with a single intern. More than 50 years later, our program has grown globally to employ more than 400 interns each summer.

Our interns play an invaluable role at Gallagher. Many of our executive and branch leaders got their start through the internship program, including our Chairman, President and CEO, Pat Gallagher, intern class of 1972.

Recruitment Process

We’re looking for candidates passionate about building relationships, creative problem solving, and demonstrating initiative and a willingness to learn.

Eligible candidates must be rising sophomores and juniors with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027 to be considered for our US program. For our Canadian program, eligible candidates must be in their 3rd or 4th year. All job postings list available branch locations. Our national application deadline is the end of February but some offices conclude recruitment earlier.

High Level Recruitment Timeline:
1.First Round Interviews: typically begin October through mid-November; Phone interviews or on-campus where applicable.
2.Second Round interviews: typically begin November through December; Rotational video interviews or in-person where applicable.
3.Decision Timeline: candidates receiving an offer will have a standard two-week decision deadline.

YPP Young Professional Program – Colombia

The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a recruitment initiative for talented, highly qualified professionals to start a career in Gallagher. It consists of a professional development program of 18 months where candidates learn about the insurance and reinsurance world.

This program aims to attract, develop and retain professional personnel with excellent academic backgrounds and high development potential, destined to form the next generation and the next line of leadership in Gallagher, thus guaranteeing the sustainability of the strategy in the long term.

In an 18-month learning cycle, the young professionals will make a complete rotation through the different areas of insurance and reinsurance guaranteeing their knowledge in the key processes of the business, to finally assume a role in some of the areas that meet their career expectations.

We have carefully curated an experience that will allow for various touchpoints within the company, allowing our program participants a well-rounded and robust idea of who Gallagher is and what we offer before final placement.

Program Structure

YPP is an 18 month program with a 70-20-10 training approach. You will be assigned a mentor for the duration of the program and will complete what we refer to as an Improvement Project presentation. Additionally, we make sure that we are constantly monitoring your performance and contribution in each area of the program.

70% on the job learning through daily execution of tasks, implementation of the improvement project, and deep immersion in the area. 20% learning from others through the permanent support of the assigned mentor, the leaders of each area, and constant interaction with peers and colleagues. 10% Formal training and learning through participation in courses, symposiums, eLearn or Skillsoft, Master class, among others.

Our 18 month program is divided into a rotational schedule. You will spend 7 months in insurance, 7 months in reinsurance, 2 months in consulting, 1 month in claims, and 1 month spent on your project presentation. Once the 18 months have commenced you will receive your final placement.
